SnipNote is built with a Local-First architecture. We do not collect, store, or transmit your personal data.

• Local Storage Only: All screenshots, notes, URLs, and session data are stored exclusively on your device using IndexedDB.
• Zero Data Transmission: The extension does not communicate with external servers. Your data never leaves your machine.
• No Tracking: We do not use analytics, tracking pixels, or cookies to monitor your behavior.

Permissions

The following permissions are required for the extension to function correctly:

• sidePanel: To provide a persistent interface for your notes.
• storage / unlimitedStorage: To save your snapshots securely on your hard drive.
• activeTab / tabs: To capture the current page image and retrieve titles for indexing.
• scripting: To enable specialized features like partial screen selection.

Data Security

Because your data is stored locally, its security depends on the security of your device. We recommend using standard OS-level encryption (like FileVault or BitLocker) to protect your local browser data.
